This is my second to last post for my 20% project, and I am ALMOST done learning “Say Something“ by A Great New World. As I have mentioned in previous posts, the most important thing in learning to play the piano is practice, and frequent practice at that. When I finish learning the song, I am not done learning the piano and have much room for improvement (if you watch the video, that’s obvious).
I have learned over the past weeks that the amount of concentration needed to play an entire song on the piano without music is equal to that of writing a term paper. The further into a song I got, the harder it was for me to learn. I have not yet learned to read music, but now realize the importance and significance it has in learning and playing piano. I think I will make that a future-learning goal (once my Masters Program is complete).
So please, enjoy my weekly progress. I am now able to play the entire song on my right hand, and almost the entire song on my left had. The left hand will have quite a bit of repetition in what I learn next week, so I am hoping that I learn the notes quickly and am able to fix my clearly troubled timing.
