On Wednesdays, I usually have the day off from work and spend the entire day working on schoolwork. Since this 20% Project is for school, on Wednesdays, I play the piano (keyboard). However, this Wednesday I worked, leaving my schoolwork and piano playing to nights.
On Tuesday, I spent the night trying to learn the second part of Adele’s Someone Like You using the same video as before, and found myself confused. The free YouTube video instructor was showing off (sarcasm, he’s very talented). The lesson teaches parts, and you need to listen to the official song and piece them together. As I am not musically inclined, this has been interesting. There are now bridges, and fancy left hand moves which are still beyond my current skill set, but I am determined to get there. I focused on only my right hand, and started at the beginning of the song, again. I also pretended that I was Adele’s piano player, while listening to her video online, and have been going through the motions on the keyboard to get my timing right. I also am lip syncing the words and trying to play with my eyes closed, hoping to bring back in the left hand, because it is CRUCIAL for bridges and part two.
On Wednesday, I practiced Adele some more, and noticed improvement. However, I decided to give it a go another song that was less complicated, to keep my spirits up. The song I learned was Stand by Me by Ben E. King. It was taught through the same website as Adele’s Someone Like You. This song only took me about an hour, and was very fun! I also realized that through taking a few days off practice I am more coordinated now with both hands, and my hands are stronger!
Here is my attempt at Ben E. King’s Stand by Me. Enjoy!!
